How do dogs learn? How do dogs and humans communicate? Master Dog Trainer Ram Reizel, from RR Professional Dog Training in Carlton, will answer these questions and share dog training dos and don’ts.

Sit Down with a Stand-up

July 21  •  6 pm  •  Main Library Green Room

How funny are you? Discover Scott Novotny’s comedy writing formula for beginning writers. Scott will guide you through stand-up comedy, improvisation and comedy writing, as well as demonstrate a stand-up comedy routine.  Great for both teens and adults.

Seed screens

Make Your Own Seed-saving Screens

July 24  •  6 pm  •  Main Library Green Room

Seed screens help make cleaning seed easy and efficient. In this free class you’ll learn to make quality wooden framed screens that can be used for years to come. Each person will leave with one finished set of two screens (a sieve and a scalper). Taught by Jahn Hibbs, Executive Director of the Duluth Community Garden Program.

Wet or dry? Grain-free or raw meat? Joanne Elliott, owner of Matilda’s Dog Bakery & Boutique, will discuss dog nutrition and provide samples of her baked treats to take home to your furry friend.

Find out how old fashioned candies are made at Great!Lakes Candy Kitchen in Knife River. Antique candy making machines will be on display, and candy samples will be served, while supplies last.

Grand Marais’s Briand Morrison will play his guitar and talk about the music writing process and the stories behind each song. Get answers to your questions about how to become a good guitar player.
