By: Todd Strasser
YA Fic

Tired of being hungry, cold, and dirty from living on the streets of New York City with a tribe of other homeless teenagers who are dying, one by one, a girl named Maybe ponders her future and longs for someone to care about her.

Thumbs up
I gave CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE a thumbs up because it has a good plot and actually seems like a real thing. The plot of this story is that there is a group or tribe of teens that live on the streets of New York City. Some of the kids die and the dead teens were not over the age of 23. They had to beg to get money for food and used the library bathroom to wash up. You and other teens should read it, so they know that they're lucky they have a warm house and food and not everybody does.

Among the Barons  (Shadow Children, #4)
By: Margaret Peterson Haddix
Juv Fic SF

In a future world of false identities, government lies, and death threats, Luke feels drawn to the younger brother of the boy whose name Luke has taken.

Thumbs up
It is a great mix of mystery and science fiction. Even though I don't usually enjoy these genres, I gave it a try and loved it. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't really know what exactly happened until the last few pages. A great conclusion to the series!

Thieves Like Us
By: Steven Cole
YA Fic

A mysterious benefactor hand-picks a group of teen geniuses to follow a set of clues leading to the secrets of everlasting life, secrets which they must steal and for which they risk being killed.

Thumbs up
This action-packed novel has twists and turns with museum robbing and fights that leave you on the edge of your seat. It isn't as thrilling as THE EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURES OR ALFRED KROPP or SILVERFIN but it sure had a mind of its own. It's better than some.

The Ersatz Elevator  (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #6)
By: Lemony Snicket
Juv Fic

The woeful saga of the Baudelaire orphans continues as evil Count Olaf discovers their whereabouts at Esme´ Squalor's seventy-one bedroom penthouse and concocts a new plan for stealing their family fortune.

Thumbs up
It is an awesome book. It is a very exciting book. The beginning pulls you into the book and it gets more suspenseful as it goes on. In this book, the orphans climb down an empty dark elevator shaft in order to save their friends. At the end of the elevator shaft is a long tunnel in which they follow. I suggest teens read this book because I couldn't put it down!

Thumbs up
This book was thrilling and had a great plot. It was mysterious and also had lots of action. It's about three orphans who have lots of bad experiences and then get sent to a boarding school with strict punishments. Their parents also left a fortune and Count Olaf is after them to get that fortune. In this book, he invents a method called S.O.R.E. Will he get the fortune? Read it to find out!

What Happened to Cass McBride?

Thumbs up
The plot kept twisting! I couldn't put the book down. The book was a mix of three different stories and suspense was in every page. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I would recommend this book to anyone from ages 10 to 100!

Montmorency on the Rocks  (Montmorency series, #2)
By: Eleanor Updale
YA Fic M

In Victorian London, when Montmorency and his alter ego, Scarper, reunite with Dr. Farcett, the two cooperate to capture a bomber and become involved in solving the mystery of the poisoning of a village of Scottish children.

Thumbs up
It was a very exciting story with multiple mysteries for the fascinating characters to solve. Some of it was predictable but everything was logical and made perfect sense. The one disappointment in this sequel was the lack of time that the title character spends in the sewers. In the previous book, travelling through the sewers was an essential part of the plot, but this time it was a very minor event that happened once. Overall, MONTMORENCY ON THE ROCKS was an excellent page-turner and I would recommend the entire series to anyone who likes a good mystery.

Catherine V., age 12
