The City
of Bones
By: Cassandra Clare
YA Fic
Suddenly able to see demons
and the Darkhunters who are dedicated to returning them to their
own dimension, fifteen-year-old Clary Fray is drawn into this
bizzare world when her mother disappears and Clary herself is
almost killed by a monster.
This
whole series was absolutly amazing. I wasn't sure if I would
like it when I first picked it up off the shelf because I don't
always read YA books. Fortunatly my friends urged me to read
it and i did. I was so enthralled by this books I could hardly
put them down. I admit to staying up even later than usual, just
to read and also falling dreadfully behind on my geometry homework.
I finished the whole trilogy in record time and it was so worth
it!!!! I would recommend these books to anyone whos like books
that keep you on the edge of your seat whithout being a standard
'mystery' type novel. This book would be enjoyed by mystery lovers
too, though)Seroiously anyone who needs a good read that is fast
paced from the very first pages pick the city of bones, an after
that the city of ashes and the city of glass. You won't regret
it!

Hoot
By: Carl Hiaasen
YA Fic
Roy, who is new to his small
Florida community, becomes involved in another boy's attempt
to save a colony of burrowing owls from a proposed construction
site.
HOOT
is a fantastic book about doing everything possible to stand
up for something you believe in. There are many interesting and
lovable characters that portray this theme. It's a book that
I wouldn't put down until I knew the ending. But even when it
did end, I didn't want it to be over. It's a great novel for
readers who love a good intrigue.

Holes
By: Louis Sachar

As further evidence of his
family's bad fortune which they attribute to a curse on a distant
relative, Stanley Yelnats is sent to a hellish correctional camp
in the Texas desert where he finds his first real friend, a treasure,
and a new sense of himself.
I
like this book becasue it gives the reader the feeling of being
in the book. I also like this book because it gives the reader
a lesson not to steal.

Nobody's
Prize
By: Esther Friesner
YA Fic
Still longing for
adventure, Princess Helen of Sparta maintains her disguise as
a boy to join her unsuspecting brothers as part of the crew of
the Argo, the ship commanded by Prince Jason in his quest for
the Golden Fleece.
It's
about Helen of Troy going on a quest for the pelt of the goldn
ram. She is in disguise so it is really suspenseful because if
she was found out they would either throw her off the boat because
the sailors think that girls are bad luck or her brothers who
are on the boat but of course don't know that she is there would
drag her back home where she would have to sit being a perfect
princess for the rest of her life. There are many twists and
turns in this book and a little bit of romance but it's kind
of sad.

Nick
and Norah's Infinite Playlist
By: Rachel Cohn
YA Fic
High school student
Nick O'Leary, member of a rock band, meets college-bound Norah
Silverberg and asks her to be his girlfriend for five minutes
in order to avoid his ex-sweetheart.
This
book was AMAZING! Not for kids under 13 but it was great. This
book has recently been turned into a movie. I saw the movie and
it was good but the book was way better. Read this book before
seeing the movie!

Wild
Magic
By: Tamora Pierce
Juv Fic SF
This first volume
of the Immortals Quartet tells the adventures of Daine, a young
girl on the edge of discovering her own magic-- and her powerful
and strange connection to the animal world.
Daine has unusual magic that she didn't
know she had at first. As her magic makes more progress, the
story gets more and more amazing, not to mention Alanna (the
main character from SONG OF THE LIONESS series) shows up as a
side character. It's an awesome book!
