For Libraries: Interlibrary Loan Lending Policies

These policies apply to other libraries who wish to borrow Duluth Public Library materials.

Materials loaned:
The Duluth Public Library loans most materials, including books, DVDs, CDs and microfilms of Duluth's newspapers (the Duluth News-Tribune and the Duluth Herald).

Materials not loaned:
EReaders, genealogy materials, materials from the Duluth and Minnesota collections, civil service test books, reference materials. Reference, genealogy and special collection materials may occasionally be loaned for in-library use only on a case-by-case basis.

Loan period:
Most materials are loaned for 4 weeks. Newspaper microfilm is loaned for two weeks use from time of receipt.

Renewals:
Most materials are renewable for 4 weeks, dependent upon local demand. DVDs may not be renewed.


Loan charges:
There is no charge for loans of Duluth Public Library materials.


Photocopies:
The Duluth Public Library will copy up to 50 pages from print or microfilm/microfiche sources. There is no charge for interlibrary loan services to MINITEX libraries. The Library will provide photocopies to libraries outside the MINITEX region (MN, ND, SD) at 10 cents per page. Photocopies are mailed, as we do not have ARIEL capabilities, or faxed upon request.


How to make requests:
Requests are not accepted via the OCLC system. The Library prefers that an ALA ILL form is mailed or faxed, but will also accept phone and email requests.
