Lacks
Thursday, March 29, 2012
6:30 p.m.
Duluth Public Library, Green Room, 520 W. Superior St.
The College of St. Scholastica selected this book as a common
reading for first-year students and teachers in Dignitas (the
Colleges year-long seminar for first-year students) because
it touches on issues--including ethics, poverty, storytelling,
family, history, health care, biotechnology, race, culture, gender,
class, and many others--that are meaningful to students, staff,
and faculty of various disciplines and backgrounds. Three moderators
from the College will bring varied perspectives to an interactive
discussion about the book. Beth Domholdt, a physical therapist
and academic administrator, brings a background in health care
and health-care research to the discussion. Chris Godsey, a writing
and Dignitas teacher, is primarily interested in facilitating
conversations about how our beliefs and intentions support our
actions. Heidi Johnson, a librarian who focuses on supporting
first-year students with their research, simply loves to encourage
reading for everyone.
