Final numbers aren't in yet, but the book sale was successful
again this year. The lawn signs provided good publicity. Laps
Around the Library will take place September 25 at 9:30 a.m. Friends
participated in the Spirit Valley Days Parade, handing out flyers
and coupons for the book sale. The Friends sent flowers to Main
and the branches as a thank-you for the additional branch hours
that went into effect in June.
B. Arrowhead Library System - Brissett
Whitney Crettol provided an update on strategic planning at the
last ALS board meeting, including information about the priorities
that different libraries have selected. The board approved additional
funding for Legacy Amendment programs and got an update on the

will be done by the UMD business school.
C. School District Partnership Meeting - Bogue, Powers
Bogue and Powers gave a brief summary of a meeting that took place
with Mayor Ness, Lisa Potswald, Judy Sheriff, Keith Dixon, Keith
Anderson, and the two of them regarding a potential partnership

new buildings, including school libraries, to the public. As a
result of the meeting, Dixon and Anderson have been invited to
join the library's strategic planning team. Meeting participants
agreed to pursue a pilot project at one of the schools next summer
or fall.
Old Business
Strategic planning - Powers gave an update on the planning
process so far. Community and staff focus groups have wrapped

team after Labor Day.
